The Philippine unit of British firm B/E Aerospace is investing around ₱2 billion to manufacture aircraft galleys at the First Philippine Industrial Park in Batangas.
Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) director-general Lilia de Lima said the project will start in 2013, but the groundbreaking for the facility is scheduled for the first week of October.
De Lima said the project is significant since B/E Aerospace supplies the world's aircraft manufacturers.
B/E Aerospace is the world's leading provider of interior products and solutions and distributor of aerospace fasteners and consumables for commercial, business jet and military markets.
De Lima said the British company is making a ₱700 million investment in addition to the initial investment of over ₱1 billion.
The project is expected to generate around 143 jobs.
British Aerospace is the world's leading distributor of aerospace fasteners and consumables for the commercial, business jet and military markets. B/E Aerospace manufactured products include aircraft cabin seating, lighting, oxygen, and food and beverage preparation and storage equipment.
The company also provides cabin interior design, reconfiguration and passenger-to-freighter conversion services.
